Federal court lifts snus ban

Snus oral tobacco may be sold in Switzerland. This was decided by the Federal Supreme Court, which upheld the appeal lodged by Wellauer AG in Rheineck. The Federal Council banned the import and sale of snus by ordinance in 1995. However, according to the federal judges, this ordinance goes further than the law provides. The legal basis for the ban was therefore lacking.
